Buttersafe

Okay, recently I was surfing the web I ran into this great site that just made my day better, it is full great comics that are so funny check it out at www.buttersafe.com
You can spend hours just reading the comics on there :D some may apply to you!

The Perfect Eye

Step 1

First of all, open up your image of the eye you would like to colorize, this could be a whole face image, or a close up of the eye - which i will be using for teaching purposes in this tutorial.

Step 2

Now we want to make a selection of the eye itself. To do this we will just use the Eliptical Marquee tool(M). When the tool is selecte, drag an elipse around the iris, like so:

Step 3

We need to be careful with the selection of the eye, because in its current state, when we want to colourize, the eye-lid will also be coloured. Therefore we need to deselect the area where the eye lid has been selected. To do this we will simple use the Polygonal lasso tool(L).
While holding the ALT button on your keyboard, left click around the area of the eye-lid and make the following selection:

Step 4

Now onto the fun part, deciding what colour you would like to make your eye! On the bottom of your layers pallete, clck on the "create new fill or adjustment layer", and click on "color balance".

A dialog box will apear showing attributes for Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. Play around with these settings to get the desired colour for your new set of eyes!

For example:

Step 5

Now that is colouring at its most basic level, if you use some initiative, you might thing... well that doesnt really blend in well...
So for that reason, im going to ak you to change the blending options of your colour balance layer to "overlay":

Now try playing with the blending options again.
TIP: To easily change the settings without starting again from the start, double click on the thumbnail next to the Color Balanace layer, the one with the circle and the triangle.

And thats that!
I hope you enjoyed the tutorial, and hopefully you were able to learn something from it, now go ahead and create those 'perfect' eyes!

Make a Web Interface with Car Image

Preparations:

We will need several nice angles of a sports car. I’m using Toyota FT-HS Hybrid Sports Car for this tutorial.

Found these images through google with keyword "Sports Car". I think you can find even better ones if spend more time on it heh.

All rights of these resources belong to their respective owners.

Step 1 - Setting Up Background:

Create a document of size 900×550 pixels.

Set the foreground color to #6D6C67 and background to #FFFFFF.

Fill the Background layer with a top-down gradient.

Step 2a - Forming the Header:

Open up the front view of the car and identify any parts of it that can be used to form your header.

I’m using the bumper area that has the nice curves. Using Pen tool, create a path around the part you will need.

Step 2b - Forming the Header:

Go to Paths tab and press Ctrl+left click on the Work Path you created to load selection..

Back to the Layers tab and drag the selected area to your document above the Background layer.

Go to Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical and position it near to the top right corner.

Step 2c - Forming the Header:

Now will need to extend the length of the top bar.

Using the Rectangular Marquee tool, select a small portion of the top bar. Press Ctrl+C to copy then Ctrl+V to paste. You may need to repeat this several times.

Align all the pasted bars with Move tool as shown in the diagram.

Step 2d - Forming the Header:

Now we have the top part of header ready. Let’s move on to the bottom.

I found another nice curve at the side of the car.

Using the Pen tool, I repeated the similar steps I did in Step 2a and 2b except for flipping vertical.

Step 2e - Forming the Header:

Place the cropped part under the top header to form something that looks like a frame.

Use Soft Eraser tool to blend the two images if need to. Normally just fade the edge a little will do.

Step 2f - Forming the Header:

Similar to Step 2c, we need to extend the bottom part of the header.

Using Rectangular Marquee tool, select 1 px of the lower bar. Go to Edit > Free Transform and stretch that selected area towards the left.

Step 2g - Forming the Header:

Now comes to the last part of the header.

Use Pen tool to crop one of the wheels out. Remember to include some body parts as well because they will be useful for blending later on.

Step 2h - Forming the Header:

Drag the wheel into the document and position it as shown in the diagram.

Use Soft Eraser tool to blend the edges again so all the three images looks as one piece.

Step 3a - Forming the Sidebar:

I cannot find a really suitable part on the images to form the sidebar.

So I created a new layer, named WhiteBars, below the header and drew 3 vertical bars. The colors I used are (from the left) #BDC0C5, #FFFFFF and #DAD7E0.

Step 3b - Forming the Sidebar:

Create a new layer above WhiteBars. Name this new layer as BlackBars.

I drew in a black bar with color #222222. This is to create a contrast where the white areas are exterior casing covering the black interior parts.

Step 3c - Forming the Sidebar:

Found another great part that can be included as part of the sidebar.

Crop the desired area with Pen tool and drag it into the document.

Step 3d - Forming the Sidebar:

Go to Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal.

Use Free Transform tool to rotate the piece so it fits beside the BlackBars nicely.

Step 4a - Forming Navigation Bar:

We need to enclose an area for navigation buttons.

Using Pen tool, crop out the handle as shown in the diagram.

Step 4b - Forming Navigation Bar:

Position the handle as shown on the left.

Using Rectangular Marquee tool, select 1 px of the handle. Go to Edit > Free Transform and stretch that selected area towards the left.

Step 4c - Forming Navigation Bar:

Merge all the layers (except for Background) created. Duplicate this merged layer and go to Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal. Adjust the two sides according to the width you wish to have for the interface.

Create a new layer, named Base, below the interface. Fill in the empty areas with boxes of colors. The colors I used are (from top) #000000, #8E352C and #131315.

Step 4d - Forming Navigation Bar:

Create a new layer above Base and name it as Lines.

Draw in the double lines to separate the buttons. The colors used are #BA594A and #5C0000.

Step 4e - Forming Navigation Bar:

Create a new layer above Lines and name it as Shadows.

Using the Soft Brush tool with color #000000, paint in some shadows around the navigation buttons as shown in the diagram.

Optional:

Now add in some images and titles to complete the interface. I’m using the logo and screenshots of Midnight Club 3 in the example.

This tutorial only show the basic methods used to create interface with car images. You can do the same with motor bikes or even trucks. Anyway thanks and hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

Motion Blur Sig.

Motion Blur Signature

Signatures express individuality and often go hand and hand with avatars to express your identity online. There are endless techniques used to make signatures. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to create one from scratch by using some basic brushes and filter effects.

Before starting we are going to need a few things: brushes, fonts, and renders. The links are posted below so just right click and “save as” to your desktop. To install, just simply drag the brushes to the following directory: My Computer -> Drive C -> Program Files -> Adobe -> Adobe Photoshop -> Presents -> Brushes. And drag the fonts to the following directory: My Computer -> Drive C -> Windows -> Fonts. Note that I didn't create these so credits to whoever made them!

Brushes: Abstract vs Grunge, Intoxicated Kiss 01, Intoxicated Kiss 03, TB Grunge, Tranquil, Zellow

Renders: Anime Girl

Fonts: Sanserifing

Let's begin by creating a new 400x100 template and filling the background black.

Now create a new layer and set the foreground color to white. Have the TB Grunge brush selected (right click on template, click on the arrow button at the top right, and select brush) and just randomly start brushing.

Create another new layer and switch to the Tranquil brush. Do the same thing and just randomly brush the template.

Create a new layer again and set the foreground color to black. Have the Intoxicated Kiss 03 brush selected and again just randomly start brushing.

Next create another new layer and set the foreground color back to white. Have the Intoxicated Kiss 01 brush selected and just randomly start brushing.

This is getting redundant, but create another new layer. Have the Abstract vs Grunge brush selected and do the same thing again.

Now something new, go to image -> adjustments -> color balance and apply the following settings or whatever suit the signature best.

Next go to image -> adjustments -> brightness/contrast and apply the following settings or whatever you see fit.

Drag and drop your render into the template and resize it. Then apply a dreamy glow effect to it; if you don't know how you can learn how by clicking here!

The next part is where the motion blur comes into effect. Duplicate your render and go to filter -> blur -> motion blur, set the radius to 125 and the blending option to hard light.

Duplicate the blurred image multiple times and drag them across the template so that you get something like below. And if you see like lines between the images just simply feather to get rid of them, a radius of 20 works best by the way.

Now create a new layer and have the foreground color set to white. Select the Zellow brush and randomly brush once again.

Remember those images that you just blurred? Now duplicate each of them and move them up so that they show a different set of colors. For the render that I used, the top half was a pinkish color and the bottom half was a bluish color. So by blending the two you get a mix of both.

Now go back to that render of yours and duplicate it again. Have the bottom layer selected and go to filter -> blur -> gaussian blur and set the radius to 3. Notice the slight difference?

It is now time to give that signature its identity by adding some kind of unique text to it. I spelled out Instruire des Jours, which means School Days in French. Basically the font color is white and the first letter of every word is black. And for that extra something you can set the opacity to 75%-100%.

Duplicate the text twice so that there is a total of three. For the text on top go to filter -> blur -> gaussian blur and set the radius to 3. For the text on the bottom go to filter -> blur -> motion blur and set the radius to 45.

Now it is time to apply the finishing touches to the signature. We're going to create a border so to do this go to edit -> stoke and set the color to black and the width to 5. Now delete the widths of the border leaving only the length. And for that extra something you can set the opacity to 75%-100%.

And that is all she wrote. Hoped that you enjoyed this tutorial and hopefully even found it helpful to some extent.
